Recognised artisan: Artisanat Certifié
We are a legally recognised artisan business. The recognition is not a marketing word: it is set out in a Belgian Royal Decree of 2014 and administered by the Federal Public Service (FPS) Economy. An independent Commission for Artisans reviews every application against fixed criteria.
To qualify, the business must be small (a maximum of 20 full-time-equivalent employees), produce goods or supply services with a strongly manual character, and demonstrate authenticity and respect for the tradition of the trade. The applicant must master the technique and have acquired the know-how personally or through formal training.
Recognition is granted for six years and is renewable. The FPS Economy maintains a public register in which every recognised artisan business is searchable. The official logo (two hands sheltering a flame above the Belgian tricolour) may only be used once recognition has been granted.
For a butcher this means the work happens on site: butchering, charcuterie, marinating, oven-ready preparation, by hand, in our shop, not outsourced to a central plant.
Official register at FPS Economy→Drop in. Bjorn will gladly show you the certificate.
